Half Life

Linocut series with accompanying music album

Half Life is a visual album pairing linocut prints with songs dedicated to different kinds of ghosts, tracing the echoes of loss over time. These song-print pairings explore the ways trauma tethers us to the past while simultaneously propelling us into the future, using a running hourglass-shaped motif to symbolize the dual nature of time as both a weight and a force. Half Life is a continuation of my earlier visual album work, Harrow, expanding beyond personal experiences to explore collective traumas, like pandemic grief, familial scars, healthcare disparities, and loss of communities. These are specters of intangible and incremental loss, a kind of haunting that either drowns you or carries us forward.
